What is Electron-beam Bonding

Electron-beam bonding is a technique used in the PCB industry to create terminations by applying heat through a focused stream of electrons in a vacuum environment. This process involves directing a high-energy electron beam onto a material, causing localized heating and melting. The energy from the electrons is transferred to the material, enabling it to form a bond with the substrate.

Unlike traditional methods such as soldering or welding, electron-beam bonding offers precise control over the bonding process. It is particularly advantageous for joining components as it can be applied to a wide range of materials. By harnessing the kinetic energy of the electron beam, electron-beam bonding provides an efficient and effective means of creating reliable terminations in PCB manufacturing.
