What is Hole Breakout

Hole breakout refers to a condition where a hole in a printed circuit board is only partially surrounded by the land. This occurs when the hole extends beyond the edge of the annular ring and the copper pad, resulting in a break in the connection. Breakouts typically happen due to misalignment between the layers of the board, causing the hole to not align properly through every layer. Breakouts can occur when the layers of the board do not match well, leading to misalignment. Ensure that the annular ring, the area between the hole and the copper pad, is wide enough to accommodate the hole to prevent breakouts.
